My Top Five “Don’t Miss” Posts

Whether this is your first visit or you’ve been here before, check out these five posts:

Student Challenge #1- Why Should You Even Visit My Blog?

This post shares the story behind this blog and some ways that I want my blog to improve.

Challenge #4- The Environment

For this post, I made an Xtranormal Video.  It was a ton of fun to make.  Check it out!

Student Challenge #3- Preparing For Guests

This post inspired a long conversation about the Water Clock and traveling in the United States.

Soda Can Zoom- Where Will We End Up?

This post was a suggestion from the Student Challenge.  Starting with a picture of a cherry vanilla Dr. Pepper, we ended up with a homeless person and a piece of pie!  Read through the comments for a smile!

Jazzing Up Eighth Grade on Sketchfu

This post was my first attempt at using Sketchfu.  It was really fun and I think that the animation turned out well.

Monkeys, Eagles, and Warfare

Just so we’re clear, the three things in this post’s title are not related!

Monkeys

In our school’s production of Seussical Jr., I am a Wickersham Brother.   (Well actually, we are Sisters since we are all girls.)  Anyways, the Wicks are monkeys who make fun of Horton the Elephant for talking to a speck of dust.  Instead of literally portraying the Wicks as monkeys, we are going to be “bad boys” with ripped jeans, white t-shirts, and leather jackets.  It’s going to be a ton of fun!

Eagles

As a tribute to our band conductor who passed away from breast cancer in 2008, our band commissioned a piece to be written by Michael Sweeney for our eighth grade band.  Our school’s mascot is the eagles, so the song title is “Soaring with Eagles”.

Warfare

On Friday, after 3 weeks of hard work, our large team project finally concluded.  Our group of nine people (yes nine people) researched and then created a magazine on warfare innovations.  Our magazine was 48 pages long including the front and back cover.  Each person had to write four articles 300-500 words each. (Yes, if you just did the math that’s 36 articles on warfare innovation.)  Our grade for this project goes into our math, science, language arts, and social studies grades, and it will be about half of our nine weeks grade.

So the three big things going on right now are monkeys, eagles, and warfare.  I live a crazy life!

New in 2011

Happy New Year!  Today was the first day back at school from Winter Break, and my schedule isn’t giving me any time to ease back into things.  We are in the middle of a huge team project at school, band and tech finals begin at the end of this week, The Suessical rehearsals began today, and I still have tennis and piano lessons.  I am taking a break from writing my FPS Scenario and homework to write this post!

When I fired up my computer to check my email and Google Reader, I had two comments waiting for me.  I was very surprised to read that I have been selected as the “Blog O’ Month” at Oh! Virtual Learning!.   This also reminded me that I hadn’t blogged in a while, so presto! this post was born.

Jazzing Up Eighth Grade on Sketchfu

Learn how to draw cartoons, comics, and anime at Sketchfu!

I chose Sketchfu from this list of embeddable blog tools.  To be honest I chose it because the example was of Phineas and Ferb, which is a show I love.  But I was also interested in the concept of drawing and then replaying it back in fast motion.  Sketchfu is really fun and easy to use.  I made the above animation in less than two minutes.
