Neon is a gas on the periodic table.  We have already determined that Neon hasNeon 10 protons, 10 electrons, and 10 neutrons.  Here are some other basic facts about Neon:

  • Is a gas

  • Discovered by Ramsay and Travers in 1898

  • Second lightest noble gas

  • Glows reddish orange in a vacuum discharge tube

  • 1 out of every 65,000 parts of air contains Neon

  • Not toxic unless used in a confinded space (can cause suffication)
